Summary Mats
Creative writing, spelling & handwriting strategies to develop and support childrens' language & literacy skills

These strategy based mats serve as a teaching and memory tool to enable children, aged 5 to 13 years to address the difficulties that they often experience with handwriting, spelling, reading and planning for story writing. These laminated, A3 mats sit easily beneath childrens’ exercise books, making access immediate, which helps reduce the language and literacy load placed on a child's memory.

Story Writing Mat

Sound Cards
Creative writing, spelling & handwriting strategies to develop and support childrens' language & literacy skills

Sound Cards
These are 68 phonetically based cards, which show the most commonly used letter and letter combinations for English sound pronunciation. Sound Cards are letters which represent several sound options.
For example:
“qu” has two sound options: “kw” - queen; “k” - antique.
Sound Cards also represent a single sound shown by a variety of different letters.
For example: “k” king, “c” cat, “ck” duck, “ch” character, "qu" unique.
To help your child learn and remember the
different sounds that letters can make, we use a code, illustrations, rules and tips to support their memory.

Sound Card Summary Chart
The 68 phonetically based Sound Cards are shown in their colour groups for ease of recall on this laminated, A3 chart.
